Giants Among Us

I haver just learned that New Zealand has a really special environment. Many of the plants and trees found in New Zealand are not found anywhere else in the world. These plants and trees are endemic to our country.  In New Zealand one of the largest and longest living endemic trees is the NZ Kauri tree. Kauri are mainly found in three regions of New Zealand: the Coromandel, Auckland and Northland. The largest Kauri tree in the country is in the Waipoua Forest in Northland. It is called Tāne Mahuta. Some people refer to it as the ‘Lord of the Forest.' and I would like to visit it because I want to see how big is it.

The legend of new zealand / Kiwi

I just learned the kiwis have hebits and physical characteristics  are so like a mammal the bird is sometimes referred to as an honorary mammal. and also

i learned that kiwi were new zealands birds and they also lay eggs. Kiwi are ratites. The closest relatives to kiwi today is the elephant bird from Madagascar. They are also related to emus and cassowaries of Australia, and the extinct moa of New Zealand. Once there were about 12 million kiwi, but because predators eat so many chicks, there are now fewer than 100,000.

Life with a best friends and friends

Life with a best friends and friends
With a BFF/Best friends forever is like so amazing because you have someone to talk to. A best friend is like a sister to you. I have three BFF including me Nasibah and Thet Htar and we have friend that is named Thida.

I am from Tonga and from Samoa my mum is Tongan and my dad is from Samoa. But i was born in New Zealand. I can be helpful sometimes half of me is nice and the other is low. My favourite food butter chicken and only some takeaway.

Nasibah is from a family that is from Fiji. Fiji is a beautiful place that have amazing beaches and also Fiji has different animals. She was born in new Zealand like me. Nasibah has each of our backs when someone is bullying us. And also she is kind and friendly to others around her. She is like a sister to me she has my side when someone is mean to me.

Thet Htar comes from Myanmar and she is so very helpful ans kind. But sometime she gets a little mad sometimes when someone puts her down. But in the inside she is the most amazing person in the world. She is like a sister to me she always has my back with someone is bullying me.

Thida is just a friend she comes from Myanmar she is always a friend that makes the good time better and the hard times easier. She is helpful and kind and also friendly. Sometime she starts the trouble and then we stop being friend for 10 weeks then we come back to being friends and we start talking and everything feels normal and it feels like nothing happen.

why do we need tests?

Why do we need test ?
Why do we need test. We need test because it helps you in your life because tests are part of life. Also
twice in a year children in new Zealand get tested. Test also helps you with your learning and with your
school.

One reason that we need test is because it helps us with our learning and you get a good education.
looking back when you were young that test might of help you now to get a good job for you family.
And test helps us get a good job.

Another reason that why we need test is because it will help your teachers because your teacher will
learn what you do know and what you don’t know and things that you don’t know your teacher will know
what they have to teach you next.

Tests can help you in life because that test might of help you get a good job and good money for your
family and your job will help you and your family to buy some food and some clothes to wear. Test are
also good because it helps your learning.

Tests are so helpful because you learn more things and you learn things that you didn't know about
and you might get a good education so you can get a good job to help your family and yourself and it
helps your teacher.

New Zealand in 2084

New Zealand in 2048
Intro: this week I am writing about what would New Zealand be like in 2048 it
might be a world that has too much Technology. I think that there is going to
be not that much learning then now because there is going to be new
technology.
Para 1: The environment in 2048 is going to be maybe a good environment
because there might be some new technology that can help us keep our world
a better place for the animals. And there is not going to be not that much rubbish.

Para 2: Technology is going to be a big help when it is going to be 2048 because
it will help us with our work or it will help us by keeping our environment clean.
and there might be flying cars and the flying cars might help us go to work faster.

Para 3: Education might help you get a good life when you grow up and education
will be also a hard thing in 2048 because if you don’t have a good education you
might have no money or you might be homeless or you might not have a job.

Conc: summarise overall I think that in 2048 will change your life because there
are going to be a lot of new technology that can help you and you might have a
good education to have a good job and also there might make new money.

how does it feel being a solider

How does it feel being a solider ? If I was a solider I would be
scared because you might get killed by other people that  you
are fighting. And it will be hard for you because your family will
miss you so much. So that is why
It is so hard to be a solider.

Why should you be a solider ? So you can help people to fight
the other country. It like when you are a Australian and USA
wanted a fight so then you can fight for the Australian people.

Why is it bad to be a solider ? because it is hard to leave
Your  family or your kids. If you want to be a solider the
you can so you can be the man or the family or the lady
or the family and your kids will be happy or sad to see you go.

Why is it good to be a solider? Because to help your country
to survive and help your people that is part of your country.
And it is good because so yous can win the war for your
family so that is it.

Matariki

Different tribes celebrate Matariki at different times.
To some tribes the new year in mid-winter was signalled by
the dawn rising of Matariki (the Pleiades), while to others it
was the rising of Puanga (Rigel in Orion). For many iwi the
appearance of Puanga in the night sky signalled the start of
winter. Puanga was said to be one of the parents of the climbing
plant puawānanga.

Homeless people

Homeless people

Fact - Did you Know? 40% of homeless
people are Employed. Shouldn’t work be
an escape from poverty?

How did you get homeless - How can you can
get homeless you can get homeless By you having
no money and you can be homeless from you
parents Because if your parents were homeless
then you might be homeless to.

Why is Homeless a problem- I think it is a big
problem because if you have kids how can you
buy food for your kids. And if you are homeless
you don’t have a house and you don’t have any
money.

How can we help - we can help by giving them
some money like when you walk past a homeless
person the you can give them some money in there
hat or there money bag and you can help by giving
some food to eat.

Why is homeless a bad thing - because if you have
kids then how can you look after you kids they are
going to be starving how can you buy food for
them.

Child Hunger in NZ

Child Hunger in NZ
Adapted from “Child Hunger” by Ryan Laatz

Have you ever had to look into the eyes of a child and tell him that there is nothing to eat tonight?
This is reality for around 15 million children in America every day. This is also a prominent issue in
New Zealand, where one in seven families live in poverty and 220,000 children go hungry. This means
that they are missing meals or going the whole day without food. Without getting the proper nutrition,
these children are not able to fulfill their potential and may be affected by poor health and a lower life expectancy.

Why does child hunger happen? Child hunger happens because children simply don't have the resources to
get food. About twenty two percent of children in New Zealand live in poverty. Also about children two
percent of kids in New Zealand  are hungry. Do you see the similarities between those numbers? Impoverished
parents have a harder time providing for their families than those in higher paying careers. There are so many
costs that parents have to cover such as rent, medical bills, clothes and power, there is often very little money
left to pay for food. As the children are too young to work, they are not able to help their families or to buy their own food.

Why is child hunger a problem? Child hunger is a problem because it is not letting kids fulfill their full
potential. Kids are still developing, and if they don't eat enough, their brain and their bodies won’t be
able to completely develop. The feeling of hunger can also affect the child’s mood; they can feel stressed,
anxious and lack concentration. These factors will then prevent students from concentrating on their learning
at school and from having the energy to participate in sports.
This means that impoverished children are less likely to graduate from high school or university
and then it can be difficult to find a well-paying job. In this case, the child may then go on to be an impoverished adult.

Are there any solutions? While there is no easy fix to this issue, there are some things that people can do to help. One solution that we could do to solve this problem is to volunteer at charities and
organisations that support children. For example, you could volunteer at ‘Eat my Lunch’. Eat my
lunch is an organisation that delivers free school lunches to children who would otherwise go hungry.
Another way to help is that you could also start a food drive. You could organize a fundraiser of some
sort, and instead of charging money to attend you would ask for canned food donations. With all the
canned foods you get, you could donate all of them to a children's food shelter.
Child hunger is a major issue that the government and New Zealand society must address.
Children in New Zealand aren't fulfilling their full potential and showing the world what they can do.
Child Hunger is happening everywhere, impacting everyone, and it's happening because children simply
don't have the resources they need. How does it feel when you are hungry? Try being hungry everyday as a seven year old.
